Revisiting the homeless

Just a note from the public library "trenches":

Our class readings and blog posts were definitely on my mind the last couple days as I made difficult decisions to no longer allow a couple homeless guests in our library. It is not easy to take away people's daytime refuge, particularly when we haven't entered the harsh part of winter. Although tough, it's good to be able to base decisions on strong, fair user conduct policy; furthermore, collaborative, frequent communication with other agencies providing service to the homeless is essential.

  1. Kathy - your point about having a fair and clear user policy is critical. How did the need for consensus among staff play into the process?

    Thanks for sharing.
